SCA operates a system of schools that teach infants and very young learners, using the Shichida method that is based on "righ-brain", creative education. The Shichida Child Academy focuses on teaching early childhood education. The age range of students is between newborns and 12 years old. In class, students participate in a variety of learning activities such as body movement, songs, flash cards, dialogue, and book reading. The involvement of each child's mother in SCA classes is a key element to the child's learning experience. The courses are designed so that both the mother and the child enjoy the classes together.
Within the SCA division, teachers travel to an assigned school every day to conduct lessons. Usually, you will be the only native English-speaking teacher at the school. Try to communicate with the other Japanese staff at each school and establish a friendly, cooperative working atmosphere. The target age and lesson length for each course is different. For students aged 0-6 years, we conduct 25 minute or 50 minute lessons. For those aged 7-12 years, lessons are 60 minutes long. Class sizes are small, with a maximum of 6 students per class. Flash card exercises are one of the most important activities at Shichida. First, showing a mass of flash cards rapidly activates the right brain (the left brain is incapable of catching up with the rapid, mass input and thus leaves it to the right brain to deal with the input). At the same time, showing flash cards rapidly develops instantaneous memory abilities. The class is formed based on the 10 basic concepts that a child should learn, including color, shape, size, number, volume, space, order, comparison, time, and money. All of these activities are formulated to help the child achieve his/her maximum potential.
